Prior to your scheduled skills sessions, you are required to purchase and complete the following eLearning courses through the American Heart Association. Please note that you will have up to 90 days to attend a skills session after successfully completing your online courses. During this time, you will have access to your online content so that you can refresh your knowledge

Precourse Requirement:  Before taking the ACLS course, you must pass the online ACLS Precourse Self-Assessment with a score of 70% or higher. This test is available through the American Heart Association eLearning site - https://elearning.heart.org/courses/24

In order to be prepared for this one-day ACLS course, students are encouraged to also complete the PreCourse Work training along with the Self-Assessment - https://elearning.heart.org/course/424/  This includes video lessons that cover multiple medical subjects and include engaging questions, enabling you to be better prepared to participate in the ACLS Provider class and achieve a successful outcome.

Course Format and Exam During the classroom portion, skills are taught in large-group sessions and small-group learning and testing stations where case-based scenarios are presented. For the exams, students must be able to demonstrate skills competency in all learning stations and pass the high-quality BLS skills test, the bag-mask ventilation with OPA/NPA insertion skills test, the Megacode test and finally, pass the ACLS exam with a score of 84% or higher.

OPTIONAL BLS Skills Add-On Students have the option to add on an accelerated BLS Skills Session.  Please note you must complete HeartCode BLS Online.

Certification Card Students will receive their certification within 24 hours of their scheduled course, from ecards@heart.org.

A non-medical certification, for anyone with little or no medical training who needs CPR AED training and a course completion card for job.  Choose from two options:

First Aid is for anyone with little or no medical training who needs first aid training and a course completion card for job, regulatory (e.g., OSHA). Choose from two options:

Pediatric First Aid CPR AED is for those involved in childcare who have a duty to respond to illnesses and injuries in a child or infant.  Choose from two options:

Who Should Take This Course?   Heartsaver Bloodborne Pathogens Online is for students who prefer to complete the program at their own pace at work, home, or wherever Internet access is available. This course is designed for workers in the commercial market who must receive training per OSHA standard 1910.1030 and also for anyone with a reasonable chance of coming into contact with bloodborne pathogens such as: correctional officers, childcare workers, security guards, maintenance workers, school personnel, hotel housekeepers, health and fitness club staff, tattoo artists

Required Student Materials There are no additional materials required. 

Course Format and Exam  (1 hour)  Complete the online program at your own pace at work, home, or wherever Internet access is available. There is no skills test or demonstration required for completion of this course. There is an optional written exam if the employer requires an exam for completion.

Course Completion Card  (Valid for 1 year) Students can access downloadable Participation Certificate upon course completion.

Shipping is open 9am-1pm CST on business days only (not weekends, not holidays). Citywide CPR is not responsible for shipping delays due to inclement weather or other circumstances beyond our control.

Reschedule/Cancellation Policy

AHA ACLS INSTRUCTOR COURSE 
 
 
Citywide CPR provides each student with the following:
  • Instructor Candidate Application
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Instructor Essentials Online Course 
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Instructor Manual 

Course Format and Exam  

Part 1 – Complete the ACLS Instructor Essentials Online course: approximately 1.50 hours. Candidates who successfully complete the course receive access to a printable certificate granting them entrance to the hands-on, faculty-led session.  

Part 2 – Complete the in-person Classroom Course with our BLS Training Center Faculty.  This includes hands-on evaluation of skills, general knowledge, administration, rules and requirements.  This requirement must be completed within 90 calendar days from date of completion of the ACLS Online Essentials course.  

Part 3 – Successfully be monitored teaching a course within 6 months of completing the In-Person Classroom portion of the Instructor Essentials Course.  Training Center Coordinators may require additional monitoring, if needed.

Candidate Requirements

  • Applicants must complete an instructor candidate application
  • Applicants need to show that they are currently, or have previously worked in an occupation in which they performed the ACLS skills being taught during the course
  • Applicants will be interviewed and screened by ACLS Training Center Faculty prior to being accepted into the course 
  • Applicants would be required to attend one of our Heartcode ACLS skill sessions taught by ACLS Training Center Faculty (no additional fee)
  • Applicants must provide a list of referrals 
  • Applicants would need to be a minimum of 18 years of age
  • Applicants must complete the online ACLS Essentials PreCourse Work prior to the classroom portion of the course
  • Applicants will need to attend the classroom portion of the course and then be monitored while teaching by ACLS TCF before they receiving their instructor card
 
AHA Hybrid: Online + Skills Check (at home) is convenient and flexible for busy schedules. Get certified anywhere, anytime! Skills Check includes a physical, monitored skills testing session with an AHA instructor.

Certification cards for virtual classes are issued when students drop off their CPR Kit.
 
Rescheduling a Public Class: We do not offer refunds after you register for a course or if you fail a class. However, you can reschedule your course by paying the $25 reschedule fee each time you need to reschedule. 
 
Rescheduling a Virtual Session: $25 fee applies for each rescheduled session.
 
Emergency Cancellation Citywide CPR reserves the right to cancel a class at anytime, due to low enrollment, weather conditions or any uncontrollable circumstance.
